Not sure if this article is worthy of a ROTW, but I found it compelling and interesting take on the gamification of everything in life. While I don’t think we can walk away from this aspect of our digital lives, I think it’s useful to see when we are being manipulated, and perhaps even put it to use in self motivation, or in applying attention. The games we choose to play, be they long term zero sum games, or short term dopamine satisfying hits should be a conscious decision when ever possible, and should match our ultimate goals.
Anyways it was an interesting read, especially how he wove Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber, into the narrative?!
