I am obsessed with the idea of submarine cables transporting internet data, built on top of telegraph cable networks. I’d like to create a series of images that teach how this system works. The idea of tier one networks, edge networks, and CDNs are all interesting systems that are not public knowledge because they are too technical. I once saw a meme that said, “Lights in video games use electricity in real life”, and I’d like to create images in memetic format that remind people about the physical nature of a utility that has been abstracted into invisibility.
