Protocol-based event planning

“Right size events - Events as Commons” proposes a framework to replace traditional event planning with a commons-based model. “Event Vouchers” aim to distribute ownership and minimize risk.

Pattern: Protocol-based event planning

The framework hints at a move from centralized planning to a approach where development stages, governance roles and exit conditions are clearly defined by protocol. Analogous to microservices architecture, this protocol creates standard interfaces between stages and stakeholders. “Event Vouchers” function as the protocol’s coordination mechanism, similar to how tokens aim to enable participation in digital commons.

Weak Signal: Event-driven commons

The staged development process and voucher system hint at a new form of commons organization. Rather than starting with permanent structures, like open-source projects these commons emerge around specific events, with early supporters acting as stewards who can either dissolve the commons after the event or evolve it into more permanent forms.

Notes

The pattern, weak signal, and sometimes counter-signal triplet is a form of information compression. This structure allows me to express perspectives and uncertainties that would otherwise require lengthy explanations.
